Have you ever heard that Europe needs changes? Have you ever thought that it is impossible? If your answer is “yes”, it means that you do not believe in things, which, for people like me, are obvious. And I promise you, I am not the only one.

I think, that our European community should be much more accessible to young people, the new generation. There are so many elderly individuals who rule our part of the world. Their extensive experience is certainly an advantage, but is it enough? Nowadays we need something more. Through so many ages model of the leaders were favorable to them. But since the moment at which our history started to accelerate and changes had become indicators of not the new age, but a new day, this model is becoming more and more old-fashioned every moment. Everyone expects fast and revolutionary decisions, which will be noticed by people not only in our region, but from all around the world.

Everything can be done if we make some personal changes. The most important political positions should belong to open-minded, creative people I think. The majority of politicians, and other people, who have the opportunity to make decisions, are acting in ways that no longer go together with the needs of the modern world. I understand that we need experienced and wise people to perform very responsible duties connected to governing. But the youth should be on the top of them. We need some power, enthusiasm, not only archaic habits repeated for years by the same people. They are often interested neither in current problems, nor new potentials. They live in their own world and everything new is, maybe not always, bad for them, but they do not feel the rush to make these new things happen. It shows why we need the younger generation – we need to actually act quick and smart to correspond to common standards of the world. People, who are currently in these positions, are concerned about their profits and cease to serve the others. They often focus on trivial things and ignore really important issues that continue to deepen.

These days, there is an erroneous conviction about young people‘s attitude to the past and culture. We can often hear that we do not feel the bond with previous generations and we are not interested in our history. Nothing could be more wrong. In fact, young people today are trying to connect antagonistic tendencies in art, music, theater, referring to the past. In this way they create events gathering crowds from different backgrounds. It is truly wonderful that they break stereotypes, spontaneously forming something really big.

The problem of dissemination of Islam, particularly intensified in recent years, is known to everyone. Governments, in the name of equal rights, accept more and more ridiculous legislation to come into force. We all agree on this, there is currently no person in power who is strongly opposed to this situation. Despite lack of power, it is the youth who actually tries to do something. They know the fact, that this is the foundation of our culture, so we should rather integrate than divide, and protect what makes us different. Especially when there is no other community in the world so generous to foreign cultures and religions as we are.

My Europe of 2030 is like a woman. Over time her role and position has been changing. She has become more liberated and confident about herself. So should become Europe. She should be compassionate and open to new ideas. She can not be passive but rather defends her opinion, makes changes on a global scale and uses all the opportunities she has. Europe can not be a conformist puppet controlled by the others. We can do better. And all of this can happen because of young Europeans. With help of previous generations, they can successfully make brave decisions awaited by all of us.

For some time Europe is presented as a unit without barriers. This concept should be continued. I hope that in 20 years we will be aware that most Europeans are not only citizens of some specific European country, but they also belong to one united community and we will feel more European than never before. All the hope is in younger generation. They are not afraid of challenges and new experiences learned from all over the world. Acquired knowledge immediately germinates in their minds and gives birth to new, bright ideas. You should just give them a chance to realize these thoughts. They can make politics and govern for the people without making scandals. Because young people believe in things. So do I.

“You may say I’m a dreamer
But Im not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one”
John Lennon
