Frankfurt/Main, 10.10.2014: On 13 October 2014, the “My Europe” Initiative will launch its blog Spotlight Europe (spotlighteurope.eu). It will host blog posts on Europe and the future from both young Europeans as well as experts of all fields of society and invites all of Europe’s youth to share their opinions on a wide range of topics. The blog will serve as a platform to further strengthen communication between the different groups involved in the “My Europe” network (students, politics, media, academia, business) as well as give other young people the chance to contribute by bringing in their own ideas. Students and experts will be encouraged to discuss the future of Europe in the five categories of Politics, Business, Culture, Environment and Knowledge.

For its launch, the blog will host contributions of students from the Youth Council for the Future (YCF) as well as experts from all fields such as Viviane Reding, former Vice-President of the European Commission and MEP , Iulia Badea, journalist with VoxEurope,and Hariolf Kottmann, CEO of speciality chemicals company Clariant International Ltd., among others. There will be discussions on the implications of the Scottish referendum, the future of journalism, and the question of what role chemicals play in nutrition these days. Every week, 2-3 new contributions will be published.

All young Europeans aged 15-25 are encouraged to apply as authors of the blog by contacting the editorial team of “Spotlight Europe” (blog@my-europe.org) and to get involved in the discussion of contributions on the blog.
