MEP Elmar Brok and youth from all over Europe discuss the trend of regionalisation in the EU

Frankfurt, 6 November 2014: Do young people see a future in Europe? High unemployment rates among young people in the south, prosperity in the north: Does the younger generation expect a breaking apart of Europe? And why do more and more regions in Europe strive for independence?

On 14 November 2014, MEP and Chairman of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs Elmar Brok and students of the Youth Council for the Future discuss the increasing presence of regionalisation efforts in the European Union. The discussion forum YOUTH ON EUROPE | Regionalisation of the EU will be held at the hotel Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof in Frankfurt am Main / Germany and will additionally be broadcasted via livestream.

The English language panel, organised by the Frankfurter Zukunftsrat (future think tank) and its youth initiative “My Europe”, will deal with the strive of individual European regions for more independence and its ramifications for European integration. It will consist of five representatives of the Youth Council for the Future, a democratic forum for young Europeans and part of “My Europe”, and MEP Elmar Brok. The students between the ages of 17 and 22 come from Austria, Bulgaria, Italy, Romania and Spain and will represent Europe’s youth.

The event will be attended by members of the Frankfurter Zukunftsrat as well as students from several schools from Frankfurt. In addition, the discussion forum will be broadcasted via the “My Europe” website (myeurope.frey-sein-kunden.de/livestream) and is globally available.

The broadcast will start at 7.15 pm CET with the keynote speech of MEP Elmar Brok and will end at 8.45 pm CET when the discussion panel is concluded. Young Europeans and all other interested parties are cordially invited to join.
