I have just had one of the greatest days in my life! Today I founded my own company, Naessens Technologies Inc. It is a software company based in Amsterdam, right in the middle of the technological centre of Europe, The Bitplains.

Founding this company went so easily, you know? Thanks to this new legislation in the European Union “Europe Does Business” or in short EDB. EDB makes founding a new company as easy as going to the grocery store. Once you have a good idea, which I had, you can go to one of the many EDB offices spread around Europe where you can pitch your idea. I did my pitch in my hometown Brussels, don’t you remember? There the EDB advisors believed in my project too so they offered me an interest-free loan that enabled me to start this big adventure. They also advised me to start my company in The Bitplains.

This meant that I had to move abroad. I knew this wouldn’t be a problem. Since the Europe Moves legislation came into force moving to another EU member state is as easy as moving to the other side of the street. I just had to register my relocation on the EU website and all my data were updated automatically and sent to my new address. I think I will be moving a number of times; it is just that easy and oh no worries, I’ll take you with me wherever I go 🙂

So once I moved into my new apartment in Amsterdam I could start the procedure to found Naessens Technologies Inc. Not that it was such a difficult procedure. The EDB made sure all the paperwork was taken care of so I could concentrate on searching a location and employees. For each employee I hire, I get a 50,000 euro bonus, if that isn’t motivating employers to hire other people!

Today I officially got the keys of my new office and an EDB advisor helped me sign the last papers. After that he shook my hand and said: “Congratulations, founder of Naessens Technologies Inc.” You cannot imagine how proud I was and still am.

Oh and, my dear diary, I kept the most important for the end! When I came home, I popped the question, while we were brushing our teeth, isn’t that romantic? Next week we are flying to Milan so I can officially ask her dad for her hand. I am so excited!
