On 6 and 7 May 2013, Parisian students enjoyed EU specialists’ outlook and were invited to discover the daily work of the newspapers Courrier international and Presseurop.

After Prof. Dr. Manfred Pohl’s (Founder of the Frankfurter Zukunftsrat) and Pierre Schapira’s (Deputy Mayor of Paris) welcome, Dr. Juergen G. Brandt (President of the Friedrich Stiftung) introduced the Europe Day explaining how important the EU is. Catherine Lalumiere (President of the Maison de l’Europe de Paris) started her talk by explaining the European crisis in an instructive manner. She was followed by Jay Nirsimloo (Chief Executive Officer of KPMG France) and Francois Villeroy de Galhau (Executive Vice President of BNP Parisbas) who both presented vividly the position of big companies within the EU. Emmanuelle Roure (Head of Information and Communication for the Representation of the European Commission in France) gave a fascinating talk about the working of the EU, and in particular the role of the Commission. Finally,  Joachim Bitterlich (Former Ambassador) closed this Europe Day sharing his rich experience and knowledge of Europe with the students.

Led by Eric Maurice (Presseurop editor-in-chief) and Iulia Badea Gueritee (Presseurop journalist), the students had the great opportunity to visit the premises of two international newspapers: Courrier international and Presseurop, as well as be part of the editorial meeting. After that, journalists explained to them the specifics of the web-based work in 10 languages. Finally, they gave journalistic insights to the students in order to help them to write an article about Europe.
