50 students from all over Bavaria. Experts explaining complicated European issues in a simple and vivid manner. Journalists revealing the golden rules of news writing. All this and a lot more was the “My Europe” workshop in Munich on 6 and 7 February 2013.

Heinz Laber (Member of Management Board of HypoVereinsbank) did not want to miss the opportunity to personally welcome the young participants and officially inaugurate Europe Day. Kornelius Purps (Fixed Income Strategist, HypoVereinsbank) started the experts’ talks with a vivid introduction into the jungle of European regulations and directives. He was followed by Stefan Kornelius (Head of International News, Süddeutsche Zeitung) and Professor Ann-Kristin Achleitner (Member of several Supervisory Boards) who gave inspiring talks on the crisis in Europe and social entrepreneurship as basis of integration in Europe. Andy Goldstein (Executive Director of LMU Entrepreneurship Center) called upon the participants to believe in themselves and to create their own future.

On Journalism Day all participants gathered at the publishing house of Süddeutsche Zeitung, where Stefan Kornelius (Head of International News) and Dr. Marc Beise (Head of Economic News) gave a witty lecture on political and economic developments in Europe. Sebastian Beck shared his golden rules of good writing with the students. One of the highlights of the day was without doubt a meeting with deputy editor-in-chief Wolfgang Krach and the following guided tour to the news desks of Süddeutsche Zeitung.
